8/7/04

Whew! A lot has happened since we last talked! Let's see...where do I begin?

Oh yeah, first things first. I received my first hair cut ever in January of this year. As you can see, I didn't exactly enjoy the process...

Mommy turned the big 3-0 (shhhh!) in March so Daddy and I threw a fun surprise party.

And then on April 13 I turned two! I had so much fun with the train cake that mommy made for me!

Grandma and Grandpa Wenger came to visit, too. Here Grandpa is trying to teach me how to use a yo-yo!

My Aunt Martha (Daddy's sister) ran the Boston Marathon this year, so lots of Daddy's family came to Boston to see her run in April! Here I'm having fun at one of the Charles River Esplanade playgrounds with my cousins Miquela and Ellie, with Grandpa Fisher watching us.

Since last fall, mommy's belly started growing and mommy and daddy started talking about a baby coming. They seemed so excited! Well, pretty soon I began to understand what they meant, and I got excited, too! After a while I was talking to the baby and sharing lots of things with him, and even saying "Out, baby, out!" Here I'm giving him a kiss.

And then one evening mommy and daddy rushed to the hospital while I was sleeping, and the next morning when I went to see them with mommy's friend Kristina Kuzmic, the baby had listened to me and had come out! Mommy said his name is Elliot--something I learned to say pretty quickly.

Well, right away things were a little different. I had to learn to share everything--even the already-full bedroom in our one-bedroom apartment at the IFH! It was a bit of a transition for me, and I even got really angry and sad a few times! Attention is the hardest thing to share. Here Elliot and I are both in our "Masaii" sacks made by Grandma Wenger.

But after a while, I realized this little guy was around to stay, so I made my peace with him.

After all, he is so cute and peaceful, especially when he is sleeping!

...and sleeping is something he did a LOT at first.

Grandma Wenger came to visit us for a week to help out mommy and daddy while they adjusted to having two kids. Plus, daddy had a big test to take one week after Elliot arrived, so he couldn't help out as much as he wanted to.

It was fun to have Grandma here!

Mommy's sister Andrea came for a long weekend at the end of May. Fortunately for me, she played lots of trains with me! My train set has been my #1 favorite toy since I received it at the beginning of this year!

But Andi also came to see Elliot--and she was really good with him, too.

Soon Elliot began to win me over with his charming smiles and little coos...

...and I began to really like to have him around. Now I like to hold hands with him....

...share my toys with him (which is a really big sacrifice!)...

...and even take care of him by showing him the stars on his bouncer, starting the music, giving him his pacifier when he starts to cry...

...helping to feed him...

...and especially helping to burp him after feedings! Okay, so I'm not always nice to him, but I really try hard to be a good big sister!

I've even started taking better care of my stuffed animals, too! I make sure they have diapers on them, I burp them, check their diapers to see if they are wet (by squeezing them, just like mommy and daddy do), and make sure they have lots to eat of whatever I am eating. I even wrap them up and put them down for naps in Elliot's bed when he's not using it.

Elliot is a little harder for me to hold---partially because he is such a big little boy! When he was two months old, he weighed as much as I did when I was four months old.

So things are okay now--after all, mommy does have two arms and can still hold me when she is taking care of Elliot!

And Elliot is pretty sweet!

He can be serious...

...and lots of fun!

I found out daddy has two arms, too.

Daddy tells me that soon Elliot will even be big enough to play with me, which I think will be fun! Here we are trying to dance together--and I'm about to give him a big kiss!

Yup, I think this big sister thing will work out okay.

Even with Elliot around, life has still continued on almost as before. Daddy still gives me airplane rides...

...we still do fun stuff around town, like feed the geese at the Swan pond in the Boston Public Garden...

...visit the "Make way for Ducklings" statues in the Public Garden...

...take long walks on beautiful summer evenings...

...and play in the Frog Pond wading pool in the Boston Common when the weather gets too hot. (There aren't frogs in the wading pool, I promise!)

And I still find time to make big messes around the house...

...be really goofy in the bathtub...

...learn new ways to count my pennies (I can count to twelve now!)...

...hang out after my bath with my favorite frog-towel and accompanying froggie puppet/washcloth...

...jump on mommy and daddy's bed...

...help around the house by sweeping up dustballs with our fun little dustbuster...

...and pose for cute pictures on my high chair!

Fortunately for me, we still live at the IFH. There are so many fun "uncles" to hang out with! Here I'm watching baseball with "uncle" Brett. He taught me how to say "baseball," "Red Sox," and "Yankees."

Here I'm doing a "crazy jump" on "uncle" Toby as he talks to "uncle" Burke.

In July we went with some guys from the IFH to Georges Island in the Boston Harbor. Georges Island houses Fort Warren, a Civil War-era military fort. In the back ground you can see the Boston skyline, about seven miles away.

In June we went to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, for vacation with mommy's family. My favorite part was a train ride on the historic Strasburg Railroad steam engine train!

We also spent some time at the Choo-Choo Barn, where we saw so many model trains, cars, and airplanes! I was transfixed and of course wanted to crawl inside and play with everything!

We also took a ride in an Amish buggy, which was the first time for me and Daddy, even though his parents grew up Amish! I simply loved it (after initially being scared)--especially the part when the horsie went poopie right in front of us!

Elliot rode in another buggy with Uncle Dwayne and Aunt Andi.

We also went to Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster, PA, and rode on lots of fun rides! Here we are going down a giant slide. I insisted on about a half dozen turns on this ride!

Vroom, vroom! Where would you like that dirt moved to, daddy?

What is this? Water out of the ground? I feel like Moses! It's my own private Old Faithful at Dutch Wonderland...

Daddy, you look good in that Amish outfit! What do you think, should we return to our roots? At Dutch Wonderland, anything is possible...

Mmmmm...I love the smell of flowers! These flowers were growing in back of mommy's old house.

We went to see mommy's grandmother, and of course they wanted to take a four generation picture with Elliot.

Aunt Heidi got a turn with Elliot, too!

We also spent time with Grandma and Grandpa Fisher, and they got to meet Elliot for the first time! Elliot's middle name is Daniel--just like both Grandpas' first names and Daddy's middle name and Mommy's brother's name and one of her uncles, too!

I had so much fun jumping on the trampoline and swinging on the swings! Daddy used to jump on this trampoline all the time when he was growing up.

Aunt Lisa, you'll never catch me! C'mon, horsie, let's get out of here!

We also went to a birthday party for my cousin, Miquela, and so we got to meet the newest addition to the Fisher clan--Evelyn Ramirez with her mom, Twila.

I even got a few swings at the piņata at the party!

And for the first time I tried my hand at swimming for real! I was a little bit scared.

We stopped by to see daddy's grandmother. Sadly enough, only a few weeks later she passed away, on July 19, 2004, so we went to Pennsylvania again, but this time for her funeral. Daddy says it is okay, though, because she had lived a good, full life of 90 years, and she was in a lot of pain. But it was still sad.

We stopped by for lunch with Grandma and Grandpa Wenger the day after the funeral, and for the first time I tried my hand at husking corn! It was fun but kind of hard--I don't think I'm strong enough yet. I can eat it just fine, though!

In late July we took a long road trip to the Toronto, Ontario, area to visit some of mommy and daddy's friends. It was the first time that Elliot and I got to go to another country. I really enjoyed the tall buildings, especially the CN Tower. Daddy told me it is the tallest structure in the world [1,815 ft. 5 in.].

This was our view from the lower observation deck (not the skypod). It's pretty funny to look down on skyscrapers!

Help! I'm falling! Okay, not really, but the glass floor in the CN Tower made it feel like I was going to fall! It is a really long way down. Fortunately the glass was thick.

Hmmm...I think this tower has a few inches on me, what do you think?

The trip to Canada was a nice time to relax. Even Elliot and I got a few moments of bonding together.

We stayed with our friends Mike, Sarah, and Simon Thiessen in Barrie, Ontario, and got to go to a lakeside festival where I went on a much-coveted "horsie ride!"

On our return trip to Massachusetts we stopped by the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. It was beautiful!

Well, that about does it. As you can tell, overall I am ecstatic about the changes and adventures in our family. Here I'm trying out my disco moves for daddy.

THE END! Thanks for stopping by!
